Calling all swimmers! Check out the Best lap pools in Spain for your swimming holiday or triathlon training retreat.

How nice is it to be on holiday and be able to focus on swimming laps without needing to dodge floating tourists or bumping into lie lows in the hotel pool?

I may have just what you are looking for. A list of hotels in Spain with the best lap pools, for an ultimate swimming holiday experience.

Sports Holidays in Spain

Spain is such a popular holiday destination for so many reasons. It is safe, cheap, has stunning beaches, its healthy Mediterranean cuisine, amazing weather…the list just goes on. All of these reasons combined with the excellent local infrastructure have also made it one of the most popular destinations for sports and active travel.

The beautiful coastlines and scenic mountainous ranges combined with good road and sporting facilities, have already made it one of the top cycling holiday destinations in Europe. Triathletes, runners and swimmers also love to come to Spain, either to stay in shape whilst on holiday, on a training camp or to participate in one of the many prestigious sporting events.

Hotels have picked up on this trend and have adapted their facilities and services to cater to sports travellers. Many hotels have even rebranded to a Sports Hotel and have installed on-site cycling centres and have extended and upgraded their gym facilities and equipment.

Remember, rest and recovery is just as important as training. So, book your hire car on the Award-winning booking site Discovery Cars and get out an explore the area around your sports hotel on your days off.

Triathlon Holidays in Spain

Many hotels have even built premium lap pools including Olympic sized pools with state-of-the-art equipment, including under-water cameras allowing you to analyse your swimming form.

Even if swimming isn’t your primary sport, the benefits of swimming are well known and can add a new dimension to your training. Swimming can also help those of you who have just come back from injury, seek a low impact exercise, or simply want to lose some weight.

Despite there being so many amazing sports hotels with premium lap pools, it’s surprisingly difficult to find a clear overview of them. None of the main hotel booking sites specialises in sports, especially not swimming, and they lack the information we’re looking for.

Your only option up until now was to do general searches and scan dozens of blogs and forums and hope to find what you’re looking for. It’s a time consuming and painful task.

Swimmers will argue that a proper lap pool can’t be kidney-shaped, it must be rectangular. Starting blocks, pool floor markings and floating lane lines are also important. I’ve tried to keep all your requirements in mind and have selected hotels with the best lap pools in different idyllic locations, many of which have close access to great locations for open-water swimming, if that’s also your thing.

Don’t worry, non-swimmers in your group won’t be forced into the deep end of the lap pools. With so many other activities and facilities available in and around the hotel, they won’t feel left out. But who knows, maybe they’ll feel so inspired that they’ll want to give swimming a go.

So, whether you’re looking to organise a swimming training camp, give your triathlon training a boost in the Spanish sun, or simply desire a relaxing family swimming holiday, I hope this will help you find what you’re looking for.

Don’t settle for second best. Find the hotel with a lap pool that’s right for you!
